Apple iPad Vs. The Amazon Kindle As An eBook Reader

Here is a head to head comparison between the Apple iPad Vs. The Amazon Kindle as an eReader. The iPad is a great device that allows a basic computer user to check their mail and surf the web as well as use some apps that will stream video like ABC and Netflix. At the end of the day, the iPad will give you more options along side an eReader but you will spend twice as much and will require a 3G subscription. The Kindle reads like a paper book and includes a 3G subscription at no additional cost. As an eReader ONLY, the Kindle wins. Check us out at angryweb.net

D3Live: Kindle 3 vs. Nook vs. iPad

In this episode of D3Live I compare the third generation Amazon Kindle against the Barnes and Noble Nook and the Apple iPad to help you decide which is the best ereader available. Starting at 9 the Amazon Kindle 3 Wi-Fi model is undoubtedly a great price for a very solid product. The Barnes and Noble Nook also has a lot going for it for only 9 for the Wi-Fi only model as it contains both a standard E-Ink display as well as a 3.5 inch color touch screen. Lastly there is the Apple iPad which while it starts at 9 for the Wi-Fi only variant there’s no doubt it does much more than an ordinary ereader. Be sure to watch the full video to find out which is the best ereader. D3Live is a weekly show I do live every Saturday at 3PM Eastern time live on BlogTV. If you are interested in asking me questions for the video or just watching the show live keep an eye out as I will post a video here on YouTube before I begin. www.blogtv.com

Why is everybody ignoring the fact that the some of the cheapest netbooks can function better than the iPad?

Question by d_curious_cat: Why is everybody ignoring the fact that the some of the cheapest netbooks can function better than the iPad?
Wouldnt it have been simpler to just pitch it against an ebook reader like kindle or nook, both of which the iPad will DEFINITELY outperform, instead choosing to compete it with netbooks and becoming the laughing stock of most the tech community (with the exception of the MacBoys Ofcourse), thus leading to comparisons like this?

Apple’s products are always big. And people are too lazy to do research, so when Apple releases this new iPad people automatically think it will be great just like the iPod, and don’t care if another product is better; they just want it because everyone else might eventually have it.

1. Safari browsing would be reasonably fast. Although it would depend if you were on wifi or 3g. The iPad is single cored which means that its multitasking is pretty limited but safari would be fine
2.Yes it is a e-reader like kindle. The cheapest variant would be a very good competitor to kindle. Again it relies on wifi or 3g coverage but the inbuilt book store looks very clean and easy to use. If you are familiar with the ipod touch/iphone gestures I imagine it would be very simple and easy to use and even if you don’t it is very easy to learn.
3.Yes it can use all apps available on the app store in normal ipod resolution and it can even enlarge it to fit the whole screen. Some iPad specific apps are also under construction and will be coming tot he app store in the near future.
4.headphone jack is unconfirmed but very likely and will be useful for videos and music (yes like a giant ipod) it also has a speaker (yes like the ipod.) however it is a independent product of the ipod as it uses a tweaked ipod os and has features that the ipod doesn’t eg. big screen and bookstore.

Kindle vs. Sony Reader vs. Nook vs. iPad?

Question by iellehcim: Kindle vs. Sony Reader vs. Nook vs. iPad?
Hey, there–
I’m thinking of getting a reader of some sort just to travel more lightly when I go abroad. I am a PC girl, so I’m not terrifically interested in an iPad, but they do look pretty useful. Anyone have any thoughts on any of these readers?

Thanks!

The Kindle has much better price on books, compared to all other devices. The Sony Reader has the poorest selection of books. And don’t choose the iPad, the screen is backlight and it will harm your eyes for long term.

I’ve given a detailed comparison between the Nook and the Kindle previously, in another answer here. Guess you’ll be interested:
